A Lovely Day for Emma after a bustling weekend

April 23rd, 2012 | No Comments »

Emma has spent a quiet afternoon on the chaise, earl gray in hand while perusing Etsy for some inspiration on vintage style earrings. Why does Emma need to take some time for herself and relax you ask…well for you lovely ladies that don’t know Emma Designs spent an entire day this past Saturday behind a table at the first annual Spring Fling event.  Conversing with people about her brand, the materials she uses and holding a mirror as many a chic lady tried on her wears Emma was in her glory.  A fun filled day shared with women she loves Emma took in a workshop on interior design by Heather Smiley (one of her newest purchasers), enjoyed a decadent lunch and oatmeal chocolate chip cookie prepared by locally owned  Van Gali’s restaurant and shared in great conversation with a fellow local designer Jen McFadden of Sophie Bean. A few pictures for you to preview! Emma strongly recommends you grab a girlfriend and plan to spend some time at next year’s event as it will be one not to miss!

It’s all in the details…

It’s so true, an elegant piece of jewellery perfectly designed and expertly crafted is exactly what every unique woman is looking for when they browse a jewellery shop. How the stone catches the light, where the necklace falls on her neck line, how the earrings make her eyes pop…all details that will maker her smile each time she selects the item from her wardrobe of accessories. There are another set of details that bring on a completely different element of happiness….walking out of a store, clutching an adorable little bag with a popular insignia on it -  and beaming as you carry the sweet parcel home…the little blue box with ribbon that you get to open the first time you try on your item, the sound of tearing through delicate tissue, placing the brown and white striped bag on your vanity and feeling like a Bendel girl in all her glory. Yes the packaging and presentation can be as important as the item its self.

Emma pays close attention to these details and is very adamant about each lovely lady walking away from an Emma Designs experience, package in hand,  feeling that flood of joy that brings a smile.  She loves to see what other brands are doing and making little tweaks to perfect the packaging for her brand.

Recently Tiffany Shurr (Designer of Emma Designs) was surprised by her sweetie with a special piece for her very own wardrobe of accessories, having pined for quite some time over the need for a piece of rose gold to fill a little hole in her collection she was gifted with the perfect hand made rose gold bangle!  Je t’aime ….pretty well sums it up. Not only is the item simply perfect but it came in a very creative little brown box with a very unique piece of fabric that has the story behind the item printed on it. www.invisiblechildren.com (take a look for details).  At once Tiffany knew this piece needed to be shared with all of you… so take a look, share in the enjoyment and never forget to bask in those minutes after a purchase.

Go Big and Go Bold at the Oscars 2012

February 28th, 2012 | No Comments »

Notably it is the case that many women went with the crisp clean choice and adorned white on the red carpet this year….however as Emma sipped her martini and nibbled her goat cheese & olives the numbers that truly stood out to her were the bold, striking and super saturated tones amongst the many black suits on the red carpet.

The likes of Violia Davis, Emma Stone and Michelle Williams specifically stood out to Emma with their rich hues in traditional spring shades.  Yet another ringing bell of clarity that this spring and summer are going to be fresh and fun with deep hues of seasonal favorites when it comes to colour!

Emerald green is always so lovely and being a repeat colour from last spring it is even more exciting that our dearly loved staples will be at the top of this season’s trend! Emma is on a tireless hunt for big feature beads as well as smaller accents for the pieces she is working on right now…Emerald, although stunning has traditionally been a tougher shade to find in the glass family when it comes to beads…this has required Emma to get creative, so you can look forward to the classy combination of emerald and pearl!

Another fun and flirty trend that seems to be popping up this year is the modern twist on traditional red. Throughout shop windows across the province and specifically on the red carpet women of style are making selections of deep purple based reds as well as bright salmon and peach based reds-  allowing those with a more pale complexion to look glowing in the bright hues.  Emma Designs herself may even need to venture down the path of a pinky red for her oh so alabaster skin this year.

Ladies – Emma knows it’s impossible to transform the floor length gowns and overwhelming presence of sparkling accessories  into the every day lives we lead where work, cooking and children all exist…but find inspiration in these beautiful women’s colour choices and accessory pairings, and carry them into our every day lives with a chunky bracelette, big bold earrings or a simple one strand necklace. Do remember, it is always important and we always deserve to fee beautiful every single day when we leave the house.
